Therapeutic Ultrasound

Ultrasound is a method of stimulating the tissue beneath the skin’s surface using very high frequency sound waves

Conditions for which ultrasound may be used for treatment are;

  • Ligament sprains
  • Muscle strains
  • Tendonitis / tendinopathy
  • Joint inflammation
  • Plantar fasciitis
  • Metatarsalgia
  • Impingement syndrome
  • Bursitis
  • Osteoarthritis
  • Rheumatoid arthritis

Therapeutic ultrasound uses alternating sound waves to promote tissue healing. Ultrasound is applied using a transducer in direct contact with the skin. It can often provide immediate relief and is useful as an aid to other modalities in Physiotherapy
