Neck

The neck is a very complex region of the body due to its involvement within the musculoskeletal and nervous system. Neck problems can present with symptoms such as headaches, dizziness, blurred vision, nausea, referred pain the arms and shoulders, pins and needles, numbness or a tingling sensation.

The most common neck conditions we treat at Physio & Health Matters are Whiplash Associated Disorders. Whiplash is most frequently linked with road traffic accidents and caused by forced extension and flexion of the neck resulting in distortion.

 

This condition can be treated with spinal mobilisations; range of movement exercises; postural education through Clinical Modified Pilates; Acupuncture; traction; electrotherapy and soft tissue mobilisation techniques.

Assessment

The physiotherapist will take a history and conduct a physical examination.

The findings will then be discussed with you and a diagnosis made.

Treatment Plan

A treatment plan will be compiled taking into consideration your goals and expectations. The physiotherapist will discuss prognosis and any further investigation that they feel you may need.

Your treatment will commence. This may include manual therapies such as mobilisation or massage, pain relief and anti-inflammatory treatment.
